New construction for Connell Elementary School consisted of building a steel-framed, 2-story building on a long and narrow 22-acre site.
Connell Elementary had to accommodate a rather drastic change in grade across the site. To address this a 2-story classroom wing with the Kindergarten-2nd grade classrooms in the daylight basement with paved and lawn play areas to the east and 3rd-6th grade classrooms on the upper floor with their play fields on the higher portion of the site to the west.
An additional one-story wing houses the gym, music room, library, kitchen, and administrative offices. The school was designed and built according to the green building standards of the Washington Sustainable Schools Protocol (WSSP).
