PETRA was pleased to be part of this project and enjoyed working closely with the Idaho Falls Zoo and William J. Maeck Foundation to provide a new training and education facility that they so desperately needed. The zoo’s original education space was just 144 square feet with no running water, no bathrooms, and inadequate capacity for students.
Ground-up construction of the William J. Maeck Education Center at Tautphaus Park included build-outs of 3 multi-use classrooms, office space, break room with kitchenette, and storage area.
With classes and courses for visitors of all ages, as well as summer camps and other events for children, the zoo’s ambition of the William J. Maeck Education Center is to be the main hub for conservation education in eastern Idaho.
